“He loves the New Year’s Eve tour, so we invited his daughters to come and surprise him during his last one. A lot of members were there to support him and we even got his picture up in Times Square. It’s going to be a tremendous loss once he leaves, but we are happy for him. He’s an individual that makes the FDNY what it is. He absolutely loves this job. Not only do I work with him, we are friends. He has such a positive outlook on life. He’s a solid guy and it was a pleasure to work with him,” says FDNY Lieutenant John Kazan, Ladder 4, who helped surprise FDNY Lieutenant Patrick Brady during his final New Year’s Eve tour before his retirement. Lieutenant Brady began his career with the FDNY in 1981 at Engine 209 in Brooklyn. After six years, he transferred to Ladder 102 in Brooklyn. In 1997, he was promoted to Lieutenant and joined Engine 44 in Manhattan. In 2002, he transfers to Ladder 4. After 38 years with the Department, the FDNY wishes Lt. Brady a happy and healthy retirement.
