2 BMW Drivers In Custody Following Chain-Reaction Crash On New England Thruway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Two drivers are in custody following a chain-reaction crash on the New England Thruway in the Bronx.

Several people were hurt in the wreck, at least one critically.

Police say two BMWs were speeding when they set off the crash around 7 p.m. near the Baychester Avenue exit in Throggs Neck.

A white BMW struck a Kia sedan, which hit a Honda CRV, which then collided with a gray BMW.

In all, nine people were hurt, most seriously the 68-year-old driver of the Kia, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A 58-year-old woman was also hospitalized.

The BMW drivers, ages 23 and 31, were taken into custody where they’re awaiting charges.
