  12. Amazon headquarters in queens ny would only benefit the high salary enployees of 150,000 on average annually. And most those workers would be from out of state. Non new yorkers. Little benefit for the average new yorkers who really need jobs. With Amazon coming to ny the commute will be even worse. With just the 7 line train. Which is already terrible and crowded. Imagine amazon coming in. Whoa. And gentrification already happening. Amazon will most likely accelerate that process. If Queens did take the deal at the end of the day money talks big corporations would win and what ever deal they made with the local community would just be thrown out the window. And eventually drive native low income new yokers out of the city unfortunately.

  13. I thought NY was the place that got things done and wanted new Tech. But I guess not so move on to someone that does and that will be easy too do and probably better. I wonder if those types freak out and run their mouths when Walmart, the worst company in history wants something done.

  16. 25,000 jobs X 150,000 salary = $3,750,000,000 that will not be spent in NYC..  Even if 25,000 families relocate to NYC, that is still allot of tax dollars NYC will not be collecting.  I do not believe 25,000 families will locate to NYC anyway.   Allot of construction contracts just got cancelled also.

  21. Here's how it goes… Amazon headquarters would have greatly benefited the NYC economy. Thousands of jobs. More tax dollars. Huge increase in local property value. Then, all kinds of others businesses would pop up directly around the headquarters, as 25k or more workers would frequent the area. Billions and billions over the next decade would have been made.

The huge tax incentive NYC offered is not special. Yes, I agree that I hate that we give big incentive to the richest people on earth… But in a free world, here is what happens:

You either give incentive for a business to set up camp in your city, or another city WILL. If no city will give them great incentive, then they will relocate overseas.

Luckily we have a leader in the oval office who punished those who are American based and move over seas, and rewards the corporations that decide to stay in America, with competitive tax rates, regulations, etc…

It's a GLOBAL economy. Not just local, city, state, or country. We need to compete on a global level, or we will cease to be the #1 economy.

  26. AOC stated today that the $3B in Amazon incentives can now be spent on the people in the area.  She doesn't realize the $3B does not exist.  It is NADA!  The incentives were on paper, or discounts if you will, so Amazon would spend billions, hire 25,000 people, with 67,000 secondary jobs also created.  Now that Amazon walked away from the discounts, there is NO money, period.  She is an idiot.   She has no grasp of economics and public finance whatsoever.
